This is my first true receiver so I can't actually say how the VSX-920-K compares to other products. I was mainly interested in the number of available HDMI ports, and originally I was looking at the VSX-1019H-K. However the 920 and 1019 are practically the same device, but the 920 (at the time of my purchase) was 0 cheaper. So far the only complaint I have is the time it can take to interact with the receiver. It seems like the remote goes to sleep when not in use, and you have to press a button to "wake" it up. So you end up pressing an input selection twice just to get it to change, and once it does pick up the signal from the remote, it still takes 5-10 seconds to switch inputs. Like I said this is my first receiver, so this may be fairly common for digital a/v receivers, and it's not really that big of an issue since you don't usually need to change inputs more than once or twice a sitting.
The iPod interaction is a little disappointing. While you can use the receiver remote to browse & listen to the music on your iPod, you can't browse and view photos or videos. In order to do this you have to (using the remote) change controls of the iPod over to the iPod, and then you have to sit next to the receiver as the cord is only 1.5ft long. If you are pulling up a movie, maybe that won't be so bad, but it seems like it should have been easy to display video and photos in the same method you listen to music. The text interface for browsing music is also pretty slow. There's about a .5-1 second delay between pressing a button on the remote and seeing a selection change on the screen. It doesn't sound like a lot, but with no search function built into the receiver browser, that time builds up when you're trying to find a particular song.
Last thing is really more of a tip for Wii owners. I had a problem with video cutting out while playing any virtual console games(n64, snes, nes, but not the WiiWare games). I fixed it by changing the resolution in setup menu 5b to "Pure", which I suppose means that it's no longer upscaling. I don't really see much point in upscaling 16bit games and if I did, I would try out the component video adapter for the Wii, although since Pioneer claims it will upscale from any source...
I know it sounds like I hate this product, but I'm actually pretty happy with it. The sound and video quality is great, it has more than enough inputs for all my devices. I can't give an opinion on the 3-D performance since my tv doesn't have that feature, but I can't say I care since 3-D movies give me a headache. It might be worth it to get the 1020-k for it's network features, though I think it's better to just go with a nettop with HDMI for more functionality like web browsing. Anyway, I subtracted a star from the score considering the slow interface and inconvenience of the iPod interactivity. Overall this is much more of a problem to me than a detachable front cover which I leave underneath the receiver so it doesn't get lost...

Note: In case it helps I bought the Dayton HTP-3 5.1 Home Theater Package 12" Powered Subwoofer, although they were cheaper to buy directly from Parts-Express(free-shipping, very fast too).

vsx-920-k doesn't work with my ps3 - skidzy - nyc
the picture and sound from my 6 month old ps3 goes in and out when connected to the vsx-920-k. i spoke with pioneer tech support, after an hour of changing wires and changing hdmi ports they concluded the pioneer unit was bad. i received a new pioneer unit and the same problem happened again. although i am not a tech i do sell audio/video cables for a living and i'm pretty good with this stuff. i tried every way possible to make this work including changing all of the wires and changing from hdmi inputs to component inputs. the second i remove the pioneer vsx-920-k from the equation the ps3 works with no problems. i find it amazing that this unit won't work with the #1 selling blu-ray on the planet. very disapointed!!!!

Bought this a couple weeks ago...returned it because you can't name hdmi inputs. I had the 919 and you could assign the inputs to whatever you wanted. For instance if I connected a xbox 360 or ps3, I could name the input to whatever I chose. With the newer 920, supposedly better than the 919, you are stuck with whatever the default input is. When playing xbox you have to chose between sat/bd/dvd/dvr. A small thing but annoying nonetheless. I called pioneer about this and they confirmed. You must get the 1020 or 1120 to have fully assignable hdmi inputs.

Customer Review

I tend to do a lot of research before making large purchasing decisions and so far this receiver is receiving a pretty rosy reception! Its successor, the 1019, was CNET's and Gizmodo's top mid-range receiver. Both reviewers had just as high hopes for the 1020, and Gizmodo already called it the best receiver 0 can buy, saying the 1020 "hit the sweet spot" that gave the most bang for buyer's buck.

The critics I read all raved about the excellent sound quality, but the 1020 brings some new offerings to the table for a mid-range receiver.

In short, the most valuable features you get with this model that you don't get with the next step down are:

1. A fifth HDMI port in back, an extra sixth in front (for digital cameras, computers, etc.).
2. Analog video upscaling (which I don't care too much about since most of my content is HD already or played through an upscaling player).
3. The iContolAV iPhone app. Very cool for controlling volume and switching inputs. Works simply by having your receiver connected to ethernet and your iPhone connected to the network via WiFi. A few times the app has had trouble properly connecting, but it usually works well.
4. Internet radio with programmable stations, which is cool, though you can't currently control the station selections from the iPhone App, unfortunately.
5. A color configuration interface output to your TV via the HDMI output. I can't imagine trying to configure all my speakers without seeing a graphical representation of their location on screen.

That last feature feature, the HDMI 1.4 ports that support 3D, the 7.1 surround capabilities, excellent sound quality and the iPhone App are what made the VSX-1020 the clear choice for me. I also appreciated the automatic calibration with the included microphone and the included iPod cable/compatibility, but those weren't as strong of selling points.

The only negatives of note for me is that the little front port cover is a little cheap. It's not even a door, simply a little plastic piece that pops out if you push one side. I, like others, have also experienced the issue where the receiver switches to TV/Sat when first turned on, but I've yet to determine whether that's a problem with the receiver itself or my Harmony universal remote (I'll update the review as I get more information).

One last tip to buyers, however. If you're considering listening to your phone's music over Bluetooth by buying the AS-BT100 adapter, I'd consider buying a Apple Airport Express instead (assuming your music is managed through iTunes). It lets you stream music from your computer to the receiver over WiFi and control what's playing via iTunes or Apple's robust "Remote" iPhone app, but more importantly the Airport Express acts as a USB print server and a one port wireless bridge (something that lets you connect wired devices to a wireless network).

That wireless bridge capability is especially valuable, since you'll need it or something similar for internet radio and iControlAV iPhone app support if your VSX-1020 receiver isn't close to your wireless router (mine isn't), so buying the Airport Express kills two birds with one stone.

UPDATE:

A few ideas have been thrown out by other Amazon posters to help alleviate the issue with the receiver switching to TV/Sat when it first turns on. The first idea is to change the receiver's settings thusly:
"1 Press Receiver , then press Home Menu.
2 Select `System Setup', then press ENTER.
3 Select `Other Setup', then press ENTER.
4 Select `HDMI Setup', then press ENTER.
5. Set Control to 'Off'."

The second idea is to adjust your TV settings like so.
"Go into Menu under HDMI-CEC and turn it Off. If the set is a Samsung look for AnyNet+ (default is normally On) and turn it Off."

I'm still having issues going directly to a given HDMI input when the unit first power on (going to "HDMI Input 1" simply toggles the current HDMI input instead of going directly to the one you want), but I've made the quirk tolerable by programming one of the buttons on my universal remote to toggle inputs, so it's easy to fix.

Great AV Receiver with a few quirks - M. Harms - San Jose, CA USA
I purchased this receiver about 1 week ago and love it. It has great sound, tons of features, and lots of connectivity for whatever device you may have. The only real issue I had was how the receiver would switch to TV/SAT every time I would turn on the system using my Harmony One remote. However, I discovered that this problem was caused by my TV and the fix is the following: Go into Menu under HDMI-CEC and turn it Off. If the set is a Samsung look for AnyNet+ (default is normally On) and turn it Off. Once I did that, the problem was gone. Once that problem was resolved I was really able to appreciate the features of this receiver. I used the automatic setup with the MCACC and it worked out very well. The only minor problem was that it listed my surround speakers as LARGE so I manually went into the setup and changed them to SMALL. Overall, I would say this receiver was pretty easy to set up, has great sound, and does not run hot like some of the other receivers out there so it can easily be placed in a closed cabinet without overheating. I was upgrading from a Sony STR-DE995 so this is a noticeable improvement now that I can listen to BD and HD DVD movies in TrueHD instead of standard Dolby Digital. I love it and can really hear the separation of the channels that was lacking with my Sony. I highly recommend this AV Receiver for the money.

Customer Review

I picked this up at a local retailer. Looks good and the sound is pretty good. Didn't seem much better or worse than my 10 year old Denon receiver it replaced (but that's not a bad thing). Video over HDMI looks good.

Setup is pretty usual for receivers, you will not understand many features and setup options unless you bother reading the instructions.

Few shortcomings with one that is very annoying:

1. The cover of the front USB and video/audio ports is not connected to the receiver - it's a piece of plastic that you have to take out completely if you want to hook up a USB device or any source to the front connectors. I wish it had a permanent connection because I can completely see it getting lost.

2. The receiver comes with a limited on screen menu to use the auto tuning of speakers and to set up the inputs and speakers. The problem is: you have to connect the receiver to the TV using an analog RCA cable to use it!!!! So if you have only digital sources and hoped to use HDMI as your only connection, be prepared to add another cable to the mix when you set up the speakers. Granted you don't need to use the on screen menu a lot but if you have difficult access to the back of TV and receiver like I have, it can become annoying. I don't understand what Pioneer were thinking.

3. Seems to have to crank up the volume much higher than I used to with my Denon receiver, but I guess this is something I will have to get use to.

Overall it is a great value, but I'm actually considering returning it and spending the extra 0 for the vsx-920-k so I won't have to use analog RCA cables ever again.

Credibility issues - Michael Westfall - Europe
I wanted a receiver that could play music from my many ipod/iphone products. This was a cheap alternative to the lack of receivers that could do this simple thing. On paper it looks great. The pioneer was shipped defective. Apparently this is rare... No sound. After many days this was repaired and shipped back to me. Now there is sound but the connection between Iphone/Ipods doesn't work. Have they no shame? Where is the workmanship pride? More importantly how many times will I be stuck sending in a defective product? Pioneer used to be good quality but not anymore. This is a recurring theme with many new tech equippment lately. China? Cheap labor=bad stuff.

In addition to its standard features (play, repeat, 32-track programming), the PD-F407 has a few that are more unusual--and perfect for a CD jukebox. "Best play" is a one-touch trick that lets you commit any 15 tracks to the PD-F407's memory. Just hit the BEST button while a track is playing and the player will automatically store that track in memory. Later, on hitting "best play," the unit will play back all 15 tracks in sequence. Another cool feature is "previous-disc scan," which simply plays the opening ten seconds of the last 15 discs played. Customer Review

I couldn't be more pleased with the Pioneer PD-F407 25 disc CD-File changer. For the amplification, it is fed into my older model, Aiwa CX-NHMT75 Surround Sound system with a powered sub-woofer. I have transferred hundreds of songs from LP onto
CD and it's great to load up 25 discs and have 30 hours of music. On "random" mode, it selects a disc and a track from each of
the 25 and then begins a new random course. I would have no use for a remote control model. The volume and bass controls are through the Aiwa and I do have a remote for it. I will treat the disc rack area and the hood enclosure very delicately. As usual, service from Amazon
was great and I believe the PD F-407 is a
great value.

Pioneer CD - K. Conley -
Plain and simple. I am 47, so I have been around stereo equipment a long time. I still own and listen to my first Denon receiver purchased in 1986. This is the best CD system I have purchased in over 15 years. Amazing what a very small amount of cash will purchase in our world. 99 bucks to listen to my burnt cd's all day...superb. Enough said.

If you've assembled a big CD collection over the years, load your favorites- let's say, 301 of them- into the PD-F1009. It displays disc titles from text-encoded discs and has an optical digital output for connection to a CD recorder. This machine offers random play and Best Selection Memory functions, and also plays your CD-R's and CD-RW's as well.

Pioneer's PD-F1009 301-CD jukebox takes advantage of its megastorage capacity with fun, easy-to-use features. Be aware, however, that its tremendous conveniences comes at a small price: the PD-F1009's sound quality, while satisfactory, does not equal that of most comparably priced single-disc or five-disc players.

The PD-F1009 excels in other areas, however. In addition to its standard features (play, repeat, program, etc.), the PD-F1009 has a few that are more unusual and, it turns out, perfect for a CD jukebox. The Best Play feature lets you commit any 20 tracks to the PD-F1009's memory. Just hit the Best button (on the remote only) while a track is playing, and the player will automatically store that track in memory. Later, when you hit Best Play, the unit plays back up to 20 tracks in sequence. (Curiously, Best Play plays tracks back in reverse order.)

Another cool feature is Previous Scan, which simply plays (likewise in reverse order) the opening 10 seconds of the last 20 discs played. The PD-F1009 also lets you create up to five custom files, or groups, with no limit to the number of CDs in each file. This is a terrific way to file discs by genre or artist.

In addition, the PD-F1009 is one of the few players we know of (megachanger or otherwise) that is compatible with both CD-Rs and CD-RWs--most only play CD-Rs. The PD-F1009's CD Text feature scans and displays disc and song titles, but only if a CD is encoded with this information (most new ones are).

Finally, the PD-F1009 has an optical digital output for use with outboard digital processors, minidisc, and CD recorders, as well as the capability for CD-recorder synchronization with other Pioneer equipment.

Where the PD-F1009 falls short is in its musical presentation. Through the analog outputs, everything sounds a little dull. From an audiophile standpoint, the midrange lacks openness, the top end lacks extension and sparkle, and the bass is sluggish and overly soft. If you have a surround receiver with an optical digital input, we highly recommend listening through the PD-F1009's digital output, which sounds just fine.

We like the PD-F1009's features, which Pioneer has executed nicely and at an attractive price. We strongly recommend the PD-F1009 for background music; serious listeners will want to reach for an optical cable to take advantage of the changer's digital output. --Wayne Garcia

as I've read many positive and negative reviews about this Pioneer CD File changer. I owned a Pioneer CD File changer that held 100 CDs previously for 11 years before it died. It was a great workhorse at my office. If I even get anywhere close to this one that holds 300 CDs I'll obviously be satisfied. Perhaps there may be a small glitch in the one I just bought as at times in the middle of the day it will just stop and go to the "just turned on" mode when in the middle of "random mode" play. If it continues, then I'd have to down grade this review. The solution seems to be to press the random button and it resumes its "random mode". I don't know if anyone else has had this problem...it is one I can live with thus far. I'd buy it again if need be...but buyer beware. Electronics purchases are always crap shoots when you get them. There are always lemons out there. Mine is good so far.

When DirecTV changed from XM Radio music they switched to such an inferior selection of music, I had to do something. I had all the CDs about fifty that I only used on road trips. Now I have the music I what all the time. The only misrepresentation on the product is that there is no "light" in the access door as illustrated. Other that that it works fine. One Note: I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PLAYING ANY MULTI-DISC PLAYER ON RANDOM. The reason is the volume changes from old CDs to the remastered. JC

Pioneer PD-M426 6-Disc Magazine CD Player Specifications

I purchased this Pioneer CD cassette changer to replace a 15 yr. old Pioneer magazine (cassette-load type) CD player that died. It is pretty much identical in form and function to the old one, but with a few less features that I never used anyway. I really like the magazine function, you just load 6 CDs and put it on random play and leave it alone for several hours. I have an ecclectic collection and like to group the CDs per magazine to play similar styles and this works particularily well, especially if you and your wife have different opinions on music (Springsteen vs. Yanni). I was able to use the 4 magazines that I had from the old player. The magazine loads significantly faster than the carousel type of CD player, especially if you are using the random play mode. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is that after 15 yrs. I would have expected Pioneer to finally figure out that loading the magazine cassette with the CD lable side down wasn't the best way to do it. Product was timely shipped and delivered - (Amazon always does it right!). I was somewhat disappointed in the rather limited selection of CD players - I think they pretty much stopped developing them about 10 years ago and figured everyone would just use their MP3 or DVD players.

Right out of the box, it didn't work. Appeared to be a problem with the mechanical chassis that aligns and loads the individual CD's. Sometimes it would error out, unable to load CD unless I pushed and held the CD cartridge in with my finger. At other times it would completely skip the 1st CD and load the 2nd CD, however, indicate that it had loaded the 1st CD.

The caveat to this troubling scenario is that the Amazon supplier J&R electronics, immediately issued a return authorization with no hassle.

I have only one regret on buying the Pioneer VSX-9040TXH AV receiver: that I didn't buy it sooner. I love music and I have never heard such beautiful sound on anyone's home system. Right out of the box (without using it's wonderful automatic system of balancing the speakers) the sound was spatial, unbelievably clear and with a depth I have not heard. The most delicate sounds sounds were clearly audible while there was a dimensionality that was just a joy to hear. It got even better using the auto system to balance the speakers!

The receiver is very substantial - 30 lbs. It is has the heft of a very well built piece of equipment. It is very attractive in an understated but elegant way. It has dozens of choices to configure all aspects of video and audio reproduction. I can say movies have never sounded so realistic and immediate. We are in the process of seeing again many movies we thought were lame again b/c the sound is so wonderful that the experience is totally changed. The quality of the video is great and my old DVDs looked much better with the upcoding. The colors are accurate and the blacks very deep.

The ability to hook up my iPods directly to the unit and use the remote to fully control them by seeing GUI on the TV is amazing. The song information, album art and details of running the iPod are visible on the TV. The sound is wonderful using the neural setting.

I have not been able to push this system beyond -5 dBs so you can imagine the power this machine has. I live in a large apartment and feel I would be evicted if I fully utilized the power of this receiver. The amazing part is the sound is great at all volume level: balance and spacious. I have a set of large Klipsch floor speakers matched with a Klipsch center channel, Polk PSW110 sub woofer and Energy surround speakers.

As far as outputs and inputs the back of this unit has a very generous array. Check it out to see if you need more, but I think for most folks it will be more than enough.

As an added bonus, you can check out the Pioneer Elite units and find that the specs of this unit are identical to the Elite VSX-21TXH. It is also THX certified.

I found nothing that I can comment negatively on. The remote is fine, the unit runs cooler than my cable box and the configuration took two hours b/c it required me to read the entire manual. I have subsequently played with adjustments to tweek the unit and increase our enjoyment.

Buy this unit and you will just sit there and smile happily.

Bought this one to replace my old Yamaha. Have tried the Onkyo HT-RC160 and Pioneer VSX919AHK. Both are too complicated to set up and did not like the high temperature. The sound and video are better than aforementioned units. Very satisfy with this receiver.

This unit is great for the price.

Audio wise the low THD is quite nice and the ability to bi-amp your speakers is truly a plus.
The auto setup does a great job, and is fairly accurate as I checked it with my RTA and SPL meter.
Auto volume leveling is a nice feature to have, although purists wont want to use it.
There are plenty of decoding options however for entry-level THX this is right on the money.

Video is fine the up-scaling works well.

The IPOD interface needs to be worked out a little better, slow scrolling, the ability to pull meta-data off of the unit to a control system would really be great.

I've had this receiver for about two months & I love it. I originally purchased the VSX-819. I returned the 819 to get the extra features of the 1019. Namely the video upscaling. Without the video upscaling, I had to use both the HDMI & Component outputs to my TV. That became a hassle. I run a Comcast HD DVR, Samsung Blu-Ray, XBox 360, Nintendo Wii & a Samsung UN55B8000 LED LCD. With the 1019 I only need to run one HDMI out from the receiver to the TV.

The Ipod capabilities are great. The on-screen guide is color & navigating is almost identical to the Ipod itself. The Ipod guide on the 1019 is much better than the 819.

I am very happy with the sound quality & power, but I am still running a fairly cheap, Kenwood 5.1 Surround Sound system that does not do the receiver justice. I hope to upgrade in the near future.

I read a lot of reviews that stated the heat output on the 1019 was extreme. I keep all my components in an enclosed TV stand. Also, my receiver & my comcast box (a fairly warm running component) are on the same side. It is definitely warm when I open the door (& the top of the 1019 is hot to the touch), but it seems normal with other receivers I've owned.

The receiver is all around made from cheap materials. Connections feel thin and the volume knob feels flimsy (I do not expect this receiver to last more than a few years). The poorly designed remote is extremely difficult to handle. The user is not able to change songs and adjust the volume without using two hands. Menus are painful to interpret and access. Comparable Onkyo receivers are far more user friendly. The sound quality is better than my Onkyo tx-sr605 receiver (but the Onkyo is miles ahead on everything else), but not nearly as good as my Yamaha RX-797. Stay clear of this receiver.

FLAWED- LOSES DOLBY PRO LOGIC AUDIO AT TIMES - Robert Sabonjian - Waukegan, IL United States
At first it worked fine, then when switching between channels on Direct TV that have Dolby Digital to Dolby Pro Logic the sound vanishes and so does the video at times. Requires a power off or switching to an unused HDMI input then back to get the sound. Pioneer is aware of the problem but has no fixes in mind. I will be returning mine.

Good unit but hard to set up. It has no "B" speakers as shown on the view of the back of this receiver. Functions, there are many effects and settings you can change on the receiver but most are uneeded and will most likely be overlooked. Too many buttons and preset settings. After pushing a few buttons and choosing from dozens choices in their menus, which can take about 15 minutes, you probably will get the sound you like. An example of these includes the settings for different types of music such as rock and classical. You are better off just leaving these options alone. However is you are interested the manual is very thorough and describes the receiver features in greater detail. All you need to know is this receiver supports Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS, and Dolby Prologic II for your stereo encoded sources. When you play a DVD that supports say DTS the receiver will automatically detect this and switch to that setting. If you are looking for an entry-level home theater receiver for your 5.1 system and are on a budget, this is the one.

Excellent price and top notch performance. Remote control is simple and easy to use. Would rather have had a full set of "Banana plug" speaker wire connections but the clamp type for center and surround sound sound speakers (Left and right front speakers have banana plugs(go figure))work OK once you get the leads dressed to prevent wandering wires from the braids from touching another lead or ground.
Setting and retrieving tuner stations is just a little tedious, but, hey, who uses it as a radio?

Are you kidding me! 3 HDMI inputs to 1 HDMI output, shipped free. It took me about 30 minutes to set up and calibrate with the included microphone. The remote could be more user friendly. But really, how often do you need to use your receiver remote?

Nice variety of output speaker options. I'm using a 3.1 set up with speaker A. And 2 tower setup in a different room for speaker B. Couldn't be simpler and was in my price range.

As far as duribility, my previous Pioneer receiver was purchased in 1990 and the only reason I'm getting rid of it is because it doesn't have HDMI outputs (obviously). If this receiver lasts half as long, I won't complain about the value.

One Big Thing They Don't Tell You - Scott J. Schrammar -
I bought a new 61 inch Samsung LCD and wanted to upgrade my older JVC receiver only, as I have very good speakers and subwoofer. I did some homework and went to local Best Buy to browse. The salesman shows me this receiver for 0 (less than Amazon or elsewhere). I was willing to pay more but this model had everything I wanted so I was pretty happy. Then I read the instructions and find out that I have to buy an amplifier to be able to use the rear speakers. I had also bought a Rocket Fish rear wireless kit since I have a large living room. What a bummer! No where on the box does it say I will need to purchase an extra amp. to get full use of rear speakers, even without the wireless kit. I don't understand why no has mentioned this in the reviews. I have a large living room and maybe they work in rooms up to a certain size. Anyway - I guess you get what you pay for so now I'll return and buy a more expensive receiver

You'll be hard pressed to find a receiver with more features in this price range. I spent ALOT of time researching receivers and for the money the VSX-919-AH-K was it.I am extremely pleased with it. For the price, you get lots of features, some not available on units 3 or 4 times the price. Sound, the sound is excellent, very clean, match it with quality speakers and people will think you spent alot more than you did. The on screen programming is really cool, and the MACC (auto calibration), which will configure speaker level and to some extent the sound parameters is really helpful as it allows you to get it up and running right away. As you learn more about the functionality you may want to tweak the auto settings, but you wont have to. It was nice being able to run 3 HDMI and,or Composite devices through it eliminating some cables. It has a clean look to it, and the remote can be programmed to operate multiple devices. The manual could use some work. The informaiton is in there, it's just not well written. Sometimes the auto select for the surround mode does not choose what you would expect, but you can change it. The setup was not all that difficult. If this is your first surround receiver (or in my case first reveiver that also controlled the video), it can be a little tricky. Remember whatever format you put into the receiver, HDMI, Composite, etc, you have to have that same format going out to the TV. You can't plug all your devices into the recevier and then just have the HDMI or Composite, etc going to the TV. All in all a good receiver at a great price. I am using Klipsch Quintet speakers and a Klipsch 10" powered sub, and as for the rated power of 90w @ 8ohms or 120w @ 6ohms, I cannot turn it all the way up and stay in the room, at least not comfortably.

Needed "category 2" HDMI cables - Randy Millard - New York
I ordered one of these and ended up returning it because I could not get any HDMI video/audio to work. My original purchase was from the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" department which are used items. I figured it was not tested correctly and was busted so I returned it.

I then decided to order it new (costing me an extra ). Once I got it I hooked it up and the same thing happened. For the life of me I could not get HDMI to work. I am by no means an AV guru but I have hooked up other systems before and to me it's not brain surgery to at the least be able to get a picture and sound. In any case I was at the end of my ropes, I was going to return it again and go with another brand when I decided to do some more research in a last ditch effort to resolve this issue. I found a review of a different brand receiver where the guy mentions that he had problems with HDMI and to make a long story short he found in his user manual that it stated he needed to use "category 2" HDMI cables. I wikid this and found that there are a few different versions of HDMI cables one of which is category 2 or "high speed" HDMI. Up until then I thought that all HDMI cables were the same. The last time I read up about HDMI was over a year ago so things have apparently changed since then.

Anyway, I checked the Pioneer manual and no where did I see a reference to needing to use high speed HDMI cables. I checked the Pioneer website and FAQ and saw no mention of the need for these cables. I had tested the cables I was using by directly connecting them to the TV, bypassing the receiver so I know my cables were working. I however noted that my cables were not "high speed". I decided to buy a pair of category 2 HDMI cables and try again before returning this receiver. Once I hooked this up using these high speed category 2 HDMI cables I was able to get video and sound.

I have not spent much time using my receiver so this review is based solely on my experience thus far. My opinion is that Pioneer has seriously dropped the ball by not including this HDMI cable information anywhere. I am very surprised that there have not been any other complaints on Amazon about this (I think I only saw one other person with a similar problem), must be everyone is buying these high speed cables now. There is no excuse to not at least mention somewhere in their manual or website that if you have problems with HDMI that it could be because the type of HDMI cable you are using, especially if they REQUIRE that you use this type of cable.

I hope this post helps others that may have this problem not have to go through what I have had to go through.

I will add to my review once I've actually experienced my receiver in actual use for a while.

I've owned this unit for a couple of weeks and just got it running since I was waiting for my speakers to arrive. I can't give you a tech savvy review, but I can tell you I like this Pioneer quite a bit. I own a Pioneer audio unit for my music, which is amazing, so I researched many brands to come up with something to replace some way outdated equipment. I wanted to check out other brands, but for the options and price- this can't be beat. Easy to set up- hooking my U-Verse and PS3 into the unit and sending it to my Samsung HDTV was simple. The graphic interface was impressive as I configured the whole system using this. It took some time and messing around with the settings to get what I wanted- but it was worth it. The sound is crisp and there are so many options I have yet to experiment with. You can't go wrong with this.

I recently purchased the Pioneer HTP-2920 Home Theater System with an excellent receiver and it's six speakers. They come as a set and do not include a DVD player which I did not need as I have a Panasonic Blue Ray player already. The system costs between 0 and 0 on line, Amazon, eBay, or directly from Pioneer who has, like Amazon, extremely fast shipping and excellent customer service. The best prices are the questionable "open box" items on eBay, I elected to get a brand new system direct from Pioneer for 9 plus 99 cents shipping. Returns can be made if you are not satisfied for any reason. I thought about sending mine back as it does not have HDMI hook ups and Pioneer authorized my return with no problem but I am very glad I did not send it back.

Set up was well explained in the "quick set up" guides which are also available on line at: pioneerelectronics.com. Each speaker and wire is color coded for fool proof set up. The speakers include
plenty of wire length for a mid-sized room, wire gauge could be stouter but worked just fine. There were plenty of hook ups in the back and in front for accessories rivaling much more expensive receivers. There are three
audio inputs and a plug in the front that can be used for iPods. The receiver has 840 watts total power which is quite powerful and has six channels. It does not have HDMI hook ups which I was afraid would adversely effect my sound from my Blue Ray DVD player, but that was not the case at all.

The system is a very handsome looking set up with a glossy black receiver, and unobtrusive matching black speakers that matched my Toshiba 42" HD LCD 1080p TV to the "T". The sub-woofer has plenty of base and can only be used with this receiver. The other speakers and the receiver can be matched up with other systems and, frankly, the receiver was worth the price of the whole set alone. I have other receivers I paid 0 plus for that are not as nice as this Pioneer receiver is.

It has 30 presets for FM & AM radio stations. It has a large list of different Pioneer, Pro-logic & Dolby DTS sound selections, more than are even needed but can be tried for sound preference for various music types, movies, TV, etc. Sound Retrieval is also available, to restore a bit of data lost in music compression from sub-optimal digital mp3 sources.

The usual speaker distance/channel level custom adjustments are available but a "quick set up" for automatic speaker balancing offering an easy option with one having to select room size and indicate if the front or back speakers are closest. The options for sound manipulation were beyond anything I imagined for a 0 set. Even a display dimmer is included.

The speakers are small so I was expecting the sound to be poor to average but I was surprised to have sound that rivaled that of my Bose sound system that cost nearly
ten times as much! It sounded too good to be true but it was true and terrific and I'm thrilled with its sound and performance. No distortion at high volume. No tin-like sound, sub-woofer provided the right amount of bass that can be adjusted through the receiver. The speakers take up little room and are very easy to wall mount, all you need to do is hang them on a firmly secured wall screw. The small wires have an advantage too, they are hard to notice. So, small speakers and wires do have a plus in a room where you don't have a lot of room or do not want ugly wires and speakers cluttering things up. It's a compact system that packs quite a punch!

Go ahead and buy one, you won't be disappointed and if you are, you can always return it.

Amazing Quality For The Price - Mark A. Shelly -
Was very easy to set up. The instruction manual is kind of lacking, but if you cant figure it out, well I guess you would be pretty stupid, haha.

When I got everything hooked up and tinkered with the settings a little bit I was simply amazed at the quality and even the power of the sound coming out of the little speakers. My living room is fairly small, something like 14x18, but for my living room there is more than enough power. And for those who said the subwoofer is lacking are crazy, it shakes my whole house. My brother has a Pioneer receiver that is a couple notches above this and he has 1000's of dollars invested into Polk Audio speakers and this little system is not too far behind his 3-4k$ set up. Sure his has much much power due to his large speakers, but the sound quality is right up there with his.

Simply put, for the money you will not come even close to this set up. Similar products have distortion ratings of around 10% this is 0.7%. Best system I have ever owned.

It's such a shame that this system is soooooooooo hard to find in retail electronics shops...and what really is a low is that Pioneer has discontinued it...so finding it is more of a chore. Sure it's great to order online, I'm sure...but I'd rather purchase live and in living color, so to speak, at a shop and just drive it home myself without the waiting and potential mishaps typical delivery can bring.

Bummer!

This is my first receiver purchase since the mid-90's when I bought a Yamaha RVX-890, which I loved. Since we've moved into a digital age, however, I felt that I needed to upgrade to something with HMDI capability as well as the ability to play a wider range of audio codecs. As with any significant purchase I make, I did ample research and my decision was eventually boiled down to the Yamaha RX-V765BL 665 Watt 7-Channel Home Theater Receiver, the Sony STR-DN1000 7.1-Channel Audio Video Receiver (Black), and the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K 7-Channel A/V Receiver (Black).

I relied primarily on a combination of online reviews, both professional and consumer, to make my decision, and obviously finally settled on the Pioneer. I didn't actually purchase it through Amazon, but that's only because there was no price differentiation between what I was seeing online and what I would pay in a store, so I purchased it locally. I finally got it set up last night and set about learning how to tame its myriad features and settings.

When I first turned it on I was disappointed to see that my LG 55LH40 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, Gloss Black was registering "no signal" on HDMI-1 even though I had run the proper cable from the receiver to the tv. This was actually the night before last, and since it was late I didn't want to stay up trying to figure everything out. After doing some reading online yesterday I realized that my problem was most likely stemming from an HDMI "handshake" issue caused by turning the various components on in the wrong order. Apparently when you do this you run the risk of creating a situation wherein the system can't transmit the necessary digital protection key from one component to another, hence the "no signal" message. This was rectified by turning the reciever on first, giving it a few seconds to initialize, then turning on the television, followed by the Comcast HD-DVR box. I'm not sure if it matters which order you turn the cable box and tv on, however the order I described worked fine.

Once I had the picture and sound working normally, I decided to run the MCACC auto surround sound calibration. This basically consists of a small microphone attached to a long wire that you plug directly into the front of the reciever. As soon as it's connected the system recognizes that it's time to run the test and asks you to confirm by pressing "ok". It then generates a series of sounds to check the speaker polarity and it actually showed me a graphical representation on the screen of a speaker on which I'd reversed the wires (whoops!). Once I switched the wires it ran its test and adjusted the various speaker levels and delays accordingly. I made a few minor (+0.5db) changes on my own to fine tune it afterwards, but it sounded pretty good to me.

One thing that I'd read but hadn't really digested was that this reciever can only upconvert video signals it receives through any input which isn't HDMI. This is sort of a bummer because my plan had been to just connect my PS3 and the HD-DVR using HDMI, however I might actually connect the HD-DVR with a component cable just so I can see if there's a difference between the 1080i and 1080p.

The sound is really amazing on this unit, and it gives you more ways to tweak and customize it than you could probalby ever really need. I went through and listened to most of the available modes last night and was impressed by how well they did what they claimed they would do. I won't go into specifics because there are so many options, but if you can't craft the sound to your liking using this receiver then you probably can't be pleased in general. I got this as lound as -20db, however I didn't really have anything cool to watch so I'll run up the volume more on my first bluray viewing of an action or sci-fi movie.

The remote does leave something to be desired from a functionality perspective because you need to press a button called "receiver" before you can access any of the advanced functionality, and that button is located all the way at the bottom and is totally non-descript. It makes it tough to quickly access menus and whatnot, but that's a small price to pay.

I also purchased, through Amazon, the Antec Low Profile AV Component Cooler for Media PC Home Theater Products which I will review separately. Overall, it's quiet and seems to be keeping everything running really cool, even on the low setting. Plus, it looks like another component, complete with anti-vibration feet and blue lighting. Well worth the money there.

Great purchase overall and I look forward to years of listening/viewing enjoyment with this as the heart and brains of my home theater system.

I've had this receiver for a month now and it is by far the best receiver I've ever owned and I've had many over the years. For some reason, I've always thought of Pioneer as a substandard brand. I know they've been around forever but I avoided them. So, this is the first Pioneer component I've ever purchased. I can't be happier with this product. For years I've felt like a victim of in-store sound systems that just don't sound the same when I get them home and set them up. I've been through several receivers over the years; JVC, Marantz, Kenwood, and Sony. I was disappointed by them all.

I chose this receiver on the advice of two close friends who swore by it. Still, I was apprehensive when it arrived and I unpacked it. After being letdown by so many other receivers, I was expecting the same disappointment. I spent one Saturday morning setting the entire system up, including running the MCACC. Setup went very smoothly and easily. There are enough HDMI and optical audio connections on this to allow for many different configurations. I've made several changes to the setup over the past few weeks and I think I've found the right combination for me. Some people have complained about the manual but I found the manual very helpful and I was able to work through a couple of setup problems with ease.

Immediately after setting things up I put in Batman Returns and was totally blown away by the sound. This receiver gives me the sound I've been searching for all of these years. I figured I'd need to replace my old Advent speakers and JBL subwoofer but this receiver brings those speakers to life. The speakers now sound like they sounded in the showroom when I bought them. The MCACC gave me the perfect balance between all channels and I only needed to run it one time.

Not only do movies sound fantastic in surround but music also sounds amazing in just stereo. I don't have a 7.1 setup, I'm using 5.1 and it completely fills my large family room with incredible highs and booming lows. The dynamic range is like I've never heard before.

I can't recommend this receiver highly enough. It is a truly exceptional receiver and hard to pass up at this price!!

Loop In / Out Adjust
Another world first from Pioneer--is the ability to adjust both the In and Out points of a loop stored in memory. So now fine tuning a loop is both quick and easy. Loop-In adjust is only available on the CDJ-1000MK3.

Reloop
Hitting the newly backlit Reloop button instantly takes you back to the beginning of the loop stored in the CDJ-1000MK3's memory. Clever use of Reloop can create some sample like effects. The same loop is always stored in memory until replaced with a new loop.

Memory
The CDJ-1000MK3 has a memory feature that lets you store Wave Data as well as Cue and Loop points. The data can be stored on a removable memory card (MMC or SD) or the players internal memory. The removable memory card can also be used in any CDJ-1000, so once you've stored your favorite cue and loop points they're stored for life. The CDJ-1000MK3 also has a feature that allows you to duplicate memory cards. The display of the MK3 has been improved to give more accurate display of memory points within the track.

Wave Display
Another improvement for the MK3 is an improved Wave Display offering a better resolution and continuous display. Wave data is stored to the memory card for instant recall when a track is called up.

Track Display
CD-Text and ID3 data is displayed within the main display area for rapid track identification. An indicator also shows the total number of tracks available for playback.

Jog Mode
The CDJ-1000MK3 can be set in either Vinyl or CDJ mode. In CDJ mode, the jog dial functions just like a Pioneer CDJ player, but without the touch sensitivity.
Scratch Play / Cue
When the CDJ-1000MK3 is in vinyl mode, the top of the jog dial functions just like a Vinyl Turntable. Pressing down stops the music and allows you to scratch or cue your track by rotating the jog dial in either direction.
Vinyl Speed Adjust Touch/Brake and Release/Start
Separate control knobs allow for quick adjustment of start and stop timing.

Tempo

Master Tempo
Pioneer's Master Tempo locks the pitch of the track even when you change the speed. You can speed up or slow down the beat without any noticeable difference in how the vocal and instruments sound.
Tempo Control
A 100mm linear high precision slider gives DJs total control and ensures that the tempo adjustment is easy and accurate.
Tempo Control Range
Ranges of +/- 6%, +/-10%, +/-16% and +/-100% (+70%/-100% for MP3) can be assigned to the Tempo Control slider.
Tempo Control Reset
Resets the tempo to 0% or original tempo of the track regardless of the slider position.

Eject Button & CD Lock
The CDJ-1000 has a guard to prevent you from accidentally pressing it the eject button. The CD is locked until the track is stopped. This can be deactivated as well if you are looking to do quick mixes. The player also features a new Quick Return function; in the event you accidentally eject a playing CD, re-inserting the CD will resume playback from the point the music stopped.

Multi-Read Format
The CDJ-1000MK3 can read CD, CD-R and CD-RW disks for CD-Audio and MP3 data formats.

Front Loading
Loading CD's without having to open doors or trays makes swapping discs and selecting tracks that much faster. It also helps to keep dirt and any nasty substances out of the CD's working parts.

Cue Functions

Auto Cue
This is the fastest way to find the beginning of a track. The sound level can also be changed to suit your style of music (-36db to -78db). There is also an option to turn it off if you prefer to cue up your CD tracks manually.
Real Time Cue
A cue point can be set on the fly and stored into the internal memory by just simply hitting the In / Real-time cue button.
Cue Marker Display
The current cue point is indicated within the jogdial's center display to show where the cuepoint is relative to the current play position.

Legato Link Conversion For High Quality Sound
Equipped with Pioneer's wide range technology--Legato Link Conversion. The CDJ-1000MK3 is capable of reproducing sound frequencies above 20kHz, which are lost during normal CD-format playback. Not only does this give great sound reproduction but sounds closer to the original recording and more analog like vinyl.

Shock-Proof Memory and Anti-Vibration Construction
Sound jumps or skipping is prevented by using shock-proof memory for continuous playback even in the event of a bump or knock.

Anti-Vibration
Oil-dampened floating suspension prevents sound skipping, even when the player is subjected to impact during use or vibrations generated from high volume music and low frequency bass.

Digital Output
The CDJ-1000MK3 is equipped with full-feature digital output. This means you can keep your scratching and master tempo playback entirely in the digital domain. Users who simply want to use the digital output for archival purposes may do so via the digital mode switch on the rear of the unit. All connectors on the rear of the unit are now gold-plated for higher connection quality and longevity.

The whole kit was so easy to use and install. I have been an xm customer for years - since they first started. I bought two new radios at Christmas and then purchased two car kits for the units. I bought them from XM and the ones the TOLD me to purchase were the WRONG ones to fit my radios. Regardless, they REFUSED to take the car kits back - look closely at their fine print - they DO NOT TAKE RETURNS. Found these at Amazon knowing that i am never STUCK with an Amazon purchase. Should have checked here first. Can always trust in Pioneer and am very satisfied with this purchase - truly quality merchandise.

I bought my Pioneer XMP3 from Best Buy one year ago. It stopped working after about 4 months for unknown reasons, but I took it back to Best Buy with the receipt. They told me Pioneer did not service these units and instead authorized Best Buy to exchange it. Thus, I got a new unit from Best Buy at no extra cost, and it works very well in both the car docking and the home docking. It does not work well at the office because I have an office with a window facing the north rather than the necessary south direction. It also did not work as advertised outdoors at first. I expected it to work well out doors for jogging and biking as advertised, but the built-in antenna is not sufficient. There is an optional sports arm band leather carry case and optional head set antenna. Once I bought those options, it now works great while jogging or biking. Pioneer should include the antenna head set with the receiver since they present it as fully portable. Nevertheless, I now fully enjoy it. I paid a much lower price a year ago than it now sells for. I am not sure the current price of between 0 to 0 with only home docking and without car kit is worth it. I bought it a year ago for about 0 and it was on special including the home kit and also the car kit at no extra cost.

If you just need a dock and play to transport from car to home, you can do better with another unit such as the Audiovox XM Xpress RCi (XDRCV1), but if you want a satellite radio to use for jogging or biking, the Pioneer XMP3 with the optional headset antenna and sports arm band leather carry case is your best bet!!! I love it!
Dead in 2 Days - Believe the Horror Stories, Because I Didn't - N. Ruva - Los Angeles, CA.USA
Received my radio on Wednesday of this week and was absolutely elated with it. It was smaller than I had imagined it would be, and I got a great deal on XM service for the year. I spent Wednesday and Thursday listening to music, and had a blast with the guy just sitting at my desk or talking the dogs for a walk. Then, Friday evening, I decided to hook up the home kit to my stereo. I hooked up the antenna and the line out into my receiver, but noticed there was a horrible buzz coming over the line. I adjusted the cable into the XMP3, noticing it was a bit loose and not plugged all the way in, upon doing this I noticed no more buzz, but no sound either. I grabbed my headphones, undocked it, and... sure enough, no sound through the headphones either. I've spent the last hour trying to fix it, but have had no luck resetting the default settings, trying to flash the firmware, taking out the battery and reseating it on and off of the cradle. It's too late to call XM or Pioneer tonight, but I'm really ticked off. Two days, and I can't use the radio at all. It still boots up, it still works fine, you just can't hear anything out of either the line out or the headphone jack. This is a completely worthless product and I will be returning it promptly.

A few more things of note:

The battery life is far less than 6 hours of live music. If not plugged in, I'm lucky to get through 3 hours. Second, the backlight never turns off. It dims, but it is always on. This is a complete waste of batteries and it should definitely give you an option to blank the screen if you don't need to see it.

Reception is a mixed bag. I actually got it great in doors, but it would cut out for no reason in the car or outside in seemingly open areas. It's not bad, but it isn't perfect either

Sound quality is decent, but I don't blame the radio for this. More or less, I just think XM is over compressed at times. It probably just seems a bit worse through headphones where everything is amplified.

Overall this is a great looking and very nice to carry around unit, but the trouble people have with it is no lie or exaggeration... Two days, and mine is no longer functioning. I see no reason this product should be on the market. Yes, I should have listened to the bad reviews here, I've learned my lesson. I'm shocked at the quality of this device and will definitely be giving Pioneer an ear full in the morning.

I've had this for a year now. I'm quite satisfied. However, I STILL get confused when I change my channels. I always want to use the volume button on the face to change channels! Regardless, for the price, it's a great deal. Definitely check out the Altec Lansing XM3020 speakers to match this with. Great price they have now for .99. Anyhow, XM Airwave is a great little product. Happy with my selection for my first time with XM radio!

I have had the airware radio for two years now and I was happy with it until last month when the FM transmitted suddenly stopped transmitting. I contacted Pioneer and they gave me the run around offering the new Inno for 0.00 and my old radio. Can you say RIP OFF. My advice is to avoid this product and all other Pioneer products because they don't back there products up. I thought Pioneer was a trusted brand name. I WAS WRONG!!!

That's important because not only does the Inno receive all of XM's great content, but it also has built-in storage for your MP3 collection. The Inno comes with a remote control, a home dock with relevant cables and antenna, nice earbud headphones, software, and more. The rechargeable battery lasted about 4 hours when playing live XM programming, and it will last longer for MP3 playback. Don't know how I lived without my Inno for so long. This little device is a must have. When I got it as a Christmas gift about 2 years ago, I thought it was a useless toy with a bill attached. I love being able to carry it with me and record music on the go.

I got the Inno2 with car kit to replace my old XM SKYFi receiver and car kit. I have been using it daily for about 3 months now in my Honda Civic. It is very small, no larger than my Samsung cell phone, and the display with graphics is quite attractive. It has a lot of little personalization features that were not available on the SKYFi. I feel basic programming of the device and "favoriting" certain channels and then scrolling through those choices is much easier with the Inno2 than with my previous receiver. I also installed a dash mount - it looks very seamless - the receiver stays out of the way and does not cover up any of my radio/AC controls. This mount was available for my SKYFi as well, but since the SKYFi was so much larger it interfered with my radio and A/C controls. I got the optional internal antenna for the Inno2, which allows for automatic charging as soon as you plug it into the base without using the car plug, and it uses your car's speakers. I would recommend this for use with the Inno2. The sound of the Inno2 is great. Switching between XM radio and the MP3 player is super easy - you just need to press one button. I do wish the memory was more than 1GB, but I was able to fit 150 mp3 songs onto it. I mainly use it for XM, so this was not a big deal. The fact that I can put any songs at all on this receiver is a big step up from the SKYFi. My main complaint is that the base is not sturdy enough for use in the car. It is a small plastic base and the ONLY thing holding the Inno2 to the base is the receiver jack. There is no reinforcement on the back, sides, top, nothing. I live in Pittsburgh, PA where potholes are everywhere. The receiver comes partially out of the base approximately once every 15 minutes, more often on rougher roads, changing my nice satellite radio to nasty loud static. I just have to reach out and pop it back down into the base, but it is extremely annoying. The receiver has never come completely out of the base and fallen to the floor, but if the roads are very very rough I could see it happening.

I have owned the Inno2BK for over a month and can say the unit works great in my house and the car using the home holder/charger. I bought an external antenna, a monster cassette adapter, and a 12 volt charger that plugs into the home unit so that I can listen to the xm in my car. As for walking, the sound does fade if the unit is ubstructed by the mountains. The headphone antenna make a big difference or you can just reposition for alot less. For that reason I gave the unit 4*s.

I haven't had any trouble with Sirius XM Radio company yet. I signed uo for the monthly charge at (inc. tax).

If you love music, this is amazing! Not only is it an MP3 player like an iPod, but it's even better because it has LIVE XM radio on it, all the channels, everything! AND, get this: It lets you record the song you are hearing live on XM right to the device. Even if you hit record at the end of the song, It still captures the ENTIRE song (due to the buffer)! I've never been happier with any purchase in my entire life, and I highly recommend that anybody who loves to listen to music (or news, or anything) to purchase this wonderful product! I love this device, its great! What really makes it for me is the record feature. I can make my own song list and cut out all the stuff that I don't want to hear.

I have had no problem with reception. Everywhere I go Ihave been able to get great reception.

I have no problem with the inno. I have a problem with some of the SeriusPioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Satellite Radio with MP3 Capability radio dj's who talk over the songs.

I have been an XM fan for years (my original boom box still gets a daily workout). The Inno itself is superb but battery life is just awful. I have tried new batteries but keep getting the same results: play time is only a couple of hours. Also, when I recharge the battery all night and take the Inno into work so that I may listen to it at lunch, the battery is dead when I turn it on! In order to maintain the previous night's charge, I must remove the battery from the radio and reinstall it when I want to listen to it! Please, whoever is going to be in charge once the merger takes place (XM or Sirius), correct this!

I was really tired of the cheesy little XM receiver that I had - it clipped on to the vent and had three wires (antenna, power, and sound to the head unit). It was time to change.

My Pioneer Gex-p920xm is Satellite Radio ready and this unit is compatible. So I ordered it and installed it. It was just as easy to install as the cheesy unit and has the added benefit of being hidden away, and integrated into the display of my Pioneer Head Unit.

What I had not counted on was the improvement in sound quality. Even directly wired through the AUX connection of my stereo, the cheesy XM radio had some sound limitations. With FM Modulation (wired or wireless), it was horrid. The Pioneer Gex-p920xm puts all that behind you!

Now I have XM as another sound source on my main stereo, all the info displays through the main unit, I have 18 presets, can search by category or station, and there's nothing blocking my air vent!

Get this - you will not regret it. Even if you already have something plugged into your IP-BUS port on your Pioneer Stereo, you can add this - they string together like a network so you are not limited to just one unit! I use this together with the CD-IB100II iPod Adapter and it's bliss!
